My Allowance

Was an autobiographical performance installation of a closeted queer growing up in the Midwestern 1990s. Using private collections of Beanie Babies, beauty pageants, and epic sock sliding ice skating routines, they together graph an intimate fantasia. These object and performance study the possessions that shaped Choinacky’s youth and their memory and personal history challenge Choinacky in being unable to let go.
